WHY USING SOLAR ENERGY ?

Interest in using renewable energy technology to provide electricity and heat to buildings is rising for a number of environmental, economic and social reasons. Generally speaking, using renewable energy technologies significantly lowers consumption of non-renewable resources and produces fewer greenhouse gas (e.g. carbon dioxide) emissions and other forms of pollution

For Solar energy to be practical for home use, sunlight must be converted into a useful form of energy. Some sort of collection device- often in the form of a rectangular roof or wall-mounted panel-captures sunlight and converts it into heat or electricity.  These devices are called solar collectors.

The two most common types of solar collectors are:

• SOLAR- ELECTRICAL (PHOTOVOLTAIC)

Photovoltaic solar collectors commonly know as solar panels, convert sunlight directly into electricity. Excess electricity may be stored in batteries or sold back to the power grid through an approved electrical panel connection. • SOLAR- THERMAL (SOLAR HOT WATER)

Solar hot water collectors use sunlight to heat an approved fluid which assists in the heating of a building's water supply or for space heating.
